Welcome

So this is my only form of contact for the next several weeks. No email. No facebook. No cellphone. No nothing to connect me back home, except for this. Please read it, enjoy it, indulge in it, respond, comment and do whatever else can be done on this blog. I will miss you very much. Thank you. Enjoy.

Notes from Kibera

I had a notebook with me in Kibera. No Camera. So I felt I should share what inspired me to write.

It is as if it doesn't fit together.

The slum spreads forth, an ever consuming sea of rusted tin roofs.

Heaps of garbage are dispersed amongst the houses. Goats and dogs scavenge the natural remains of corn stalks and various vegetation held within.

Almost the entire population of Toronto lives in this city of shacks. 10% of the population of Kenya live here.

There are so many people, they look tired but healthy. Meanwhile, dogs lie in the uneven "streets" of packed dirt; they do not look so healthy.

Sidelong glances as we walk down a railway apparently still in use.

Kibera stretches so far, constantly expanding, slowly interspersing itself amongst the more developed housing kilometers away.

One cannot change the world through one final vision. One can help another to reach a higher vision. One can give another the idea, the hope, the pride to make their own world a better place. The ultimate goal is to inspire this person to continue inspiring another and so on and so forth. Patience. Pride. Vision. this is what will create the future. It will make it happen eventually.
Patience. Pride. Vision.

Gotta print this and put it on my fridge. For real, this came some somewhere really true.
